Moonta is one of the largest towns on the Yorke Peninsula with 632 residents. A well-known tourist destination, Moonta is one of three towns on the Peninsula known for its copper mining history, and is referred to as the “Copper Coast”. The town has a range of community groups and sports clubs, as well as taxi services, a supermarket, bank, and area school. The main street has a variety of shops that are open seven days a week, including antiques stores, gift shops, cafes, and hotels. The Moonta Gallery of the Arts in the Town Hall also exhibits local artists, with exhibitions changing each month.
